There are several formulae concerned with the propeller itself.
It is important to remember that even on our modest example vessel with its required speed of seven knots under power, it is quite possible that the tips of the propeller will be travelling through the water at
speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.
Clearly the propeller has to be far more streamlined and hydrodynamic than the hull, where small imperfections such as barnacles or chips make little difference.
As this section deals solely with formulae, you may wish to consult the Components section in order to help you visualise these calculations.
