Cruising efficiency is most affected by:

Hull dimensions, hull form and weight distribution together with a design of stern that minimises the wake (or wash)

An efficient electric motor

Optimum propeller diameter and pitch

Sufficient deep-cycle battery capacity (especially if the craft is used for long periods)

David believes that these elements are the most important in giving him a cruising envelope of 3 knots x 24 hours in his design 'Terrapin'
